National Road Safety Campaign Crosses One Crore Steps Donation, Aims For 125 Crore Steps Donation Now

Mumbai- The Unique National Campaign of “Public Walk Donation” for safer Roads became huge success, it already Crossed 1Crore Steps in its 1st 20 Days and still counting, With such massive National support for the campaign, its organizers NGO Drive Smart Drive Safe (ClubD2S) have now set a  New Goal of 125 Crore Steps public walk donations for Safer Roads with an extension campaign, #MeraKadamMeriSuraksha.


NGO, Drive Smart Drive Safe’s unique project titled ‘1Crore Steps for Safer Roads’   a movement that started on 28th July from Kanyakumari has now transformed into a national movement through the tremendous support from people across the country.

The project entails a record walk from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, 3600 kilometers, to be covered by Subramanian ‘Subu’ Narayanan who is an employee of Hella India and will cover about 20 cities across South, West and North India. The project envisages participation and engagement from the public in the form of short walks to show their solidarity with Subramanian ‘Subu’ Narayanan and the cause, by “Walk Donation” from anywhere in the country, #MeraKadamMeriSuraksha – A First of its kind in India to support the cause of Arresting Alarming Road Deaths. The support is so overwhelming that the target of 1 crore steps has been achieved in just a fortnight and with many more days to go, this number will only go higher. Club D2S is an NGO actively creating awareness on road safety   and taking initiatives at all levels of the society. This project is no exception as there is active participation from all walks of the society from children too. People actively came together for the cause of promoting, creating and understanding the importance of following road safety rules and consideration for pedestrian safety.

The Campaign is supported by The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, NGO Arrivesafe, ACMA, SIAM, FICCI, CII-Yi , FADA, Bharat Scouts & Guide and partnered by Hella, WABCO & Brakes India

The walker SUBU reached Mumbai and a mega walk happened on 25th August at Worli Sea Face.  The walk started from Opposite Worli Dairy Development   Department where thousands of people  including RAF commandos, students of BMC school worli, k J  Somaiya college,Ruia College, Khalsha college, South India welfare school, Tata Institute of social science , We school of business , representatives from Yamaha motors & Maruti drivers training school  along with other corporate & colleges joined the Grand Walk with Subu-The Walker , to create awareness on road deaths. Thousands of people joined the walk to create awareness on pedestrian safety.

The Guest of Honor in the walk included Vice Chancellor SNDT women university Dr Shashikala Wangri, Registrar SNDT women university Dr Meena Kute, Mr. R W Dawa commandant 102 bataillon RAF CRPF (President Gallantry medal awardee). The organizers specially thanked Joint Commissioner of Police Mumbai ,Mr Amitesh Kumar and education officer Mr. Palkar along with Mr Sandarshan Vishal and Ms Seema Vishal from Helpguru and Samriddhi organization  who made the event possible.The mega walk was a huge success as people from all walks of life joined it

The latest data about road accidents in India is very alarming. With one death every 4 minutes and an accident every minute, the situation is very critical and cannot be left unattended for long, and hence our team member “Subu” is taking the challenge to appeal all Indians to join this national movement and donate their walk on to put this on highest priority,” said Mr. Ramashankar Pandey, President, Central Working Committee of the NGO, Drive Smart, Drive Safe and Managing Director of HELLA India Lighting Ltd.

“When we make the Roads Safer, when more people can walk, use of private vehicles will come down for short distances and Roads will become even more safer. I am on this mission to raise public awareness about difficulty of pedestrians on Indian Roads, which can lead to urgent action for creating robust system approach to Road Safety. एक करोड़ स्टेप डोनेट अभियान 8 को जयपुर में, सड़क सुरक्षा के लिए जागरूक करेंगे

जयपुर। सड़क दुर्घटनाओ की समस्या के समाधान पर ध्यानाकर्षण हेतु राष्ट्रीय अभियान 1 crore steps – donate your walk के तहत कन्याकुमारी से कश्मीर तक पैदल यात्रा कर रहे श्री सुब्रमन्यन नारायणन उर्फ़ “सुबू” 8 सितम्बर 2018 को जयपुर आ रहे हैं ।


सेंटर कोऑडनेटर,सेंटर फॉर रोड सेफ्टी,सरदार पटेल पुलिस विश्वविद्यालय प्रेरणा सिंह ने बताया कि सेंटर फॉर रोड सेफ्टी, सरदार पटेल पुलिस विश्वविद्यालय इस राष्ट्रीय अभियान में सहभागी है। उन्होंने बताया कि इस यात्रा के महत्व एवं पैदल व्यक्ति की सुरक्षा के बारे में जागरूकता बढाने हेतु 8 सितम्बर 2018 को प्रातः 7 बजे से 9 बजे तक अलबर्ट हॉल के पीछे से त्रिमूर्ति सर्किल और इस सर्किल से पुनः अल्बर्ट हॉल के पीछे तक 1 crore steps – donate your walk कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया जायेगा।

सिंह ने बताया कि इस पैदल यात्रा मे सुबू के साथ अतिरिक्त पुलिस महानिदेशक राजीव दासोत, उप महानिरीक्षक पुलिस एस परिमाला, मिसेस इंडिया 2018 डॉ. अनुपमा सोनी, सरपंच छवि राजावत, संयोजक 1 crore steps – donate your walk रमाशंकर पांडे एवं राजस्थान पुलिस के जवानों सहित फिक्की, सीआईआई, यंग इंडियन, सियाम, ड्राइव सेफ ड्राइव स्मार्ट, एनसीसी, स्काउट गाइड, एनएसएस जैसी संस्थाओं के प्रतिनिधि तथा विभिन्न महाविद्यालयों के करीब 2000 से अधिक विद्याार्थी भी भागीदार होंगे ।
